DR. ABBY LUKENS

Born and raised in Annapolis, Maryland, Dr. Abby has nurtured a passion for movement and the human body from a young age. This led her to pursue her Bachelor of Science in Exercise Physiology from Skidmore College in Saratoga Springs, New York; later working at Children’s Hospital Boston doing research in childhood and adolescent obesity. Seeking a change from New England winters, she moved to California and earned her Doctor of Osteopathic Medicine and Master of Public Health from Touro University California in Vallejo before moving to Ventura to complete her Family Medicine residency at Community Memorial Health System. She is a member of the American Medical Association, American Academy of Family Physicians, and board certified by the American Board of Family Medicine. She was also voted by her peers for membership in the Gold Humanism Honor Society for her compassion in medicine.

She strongly believes in open and honest conversation with her patients, and the importance of the patient-physician relationship. She was drawn to Family Medicine for its capacity for longevity; she looks forward to caring for her patients and families over entire lifetimes and generations.

Outside the office, she spends most of her time playing with her son and exploring the beaches, local hikes, and farmers market. She is also an avid runner and can be found running the neighborhood streets at lunchtime, or on mountain trails on days off.
